Colorless and Odorless, Carbon Monoxide Buildup Is a Real Problem!

Many homeowners perform the recommended annual check of their dryer exhaust system to ensure it is up to par and clog-free. Many homeowners are familiar with the threat of fires due to an improperly maintained dryer exhaust duct, but did you know about a secondary, and very deadly, threat from carbon monoxide? Gas dryers emit fumes that are extremely dangerous. If the dryer exhaust duct becomes clogged at any time, the fumes are not able to escape to the outside and subsequently will build up inside your home. This creates a serious risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Carbon monoxide is colorless, odorless, tasteless and difficult to detect. It can cause flu-like symptoms, even death. To make sure that your family is safe from this threat, you should have carbon monoxide detectors installed and you should also have your dryer’s exhaust duct and the exterior wall or roof vent checked once per year. It is also recommended that a professional periodically checks your gas line to make sure that it is in good condition and that there are no worn or broken areas through which gas can escape.

Eliminate the risks by installing carbon monoxide detectors and performing a dryer exhaust duct check to keep your home safe.
